HI FROM WHITEFISH 🙂
It has been a great day – lots of successes and plenty or relaxation.
The luxury of a lazy breakfast and then we walked into town
And saw some interesting things
Once in town, Jan went into the library to use the internet (password needed there, so secure to do online banking); it was a lovely library – very friendly and comfortable.
I left the man there in comfort and security and walked one block to the old Amtrak Station
All very nice – but the most interesting experience was this chap
He was on Planet Delusional! He caught me taking sneaky photos of him (I loved the way he had his hat balanced on his knee and thought he would make a good subject for my ‘people-watching’ black and white photos). Oh dear – I couldn’t get away; he ‘knew about all the plots to electrocute all the people in the US of A; this plot was instigated by J.F.Kennedy and has been propagated by every politician since. There is a plot to paint this railway station with a new paint to make it invisible to the enemy. I murmured some response and he asked if I was Australian. When told, no, I am English, I got a long story about how he is related to Churchill and how, ‘why, only this morning, I spoke to Tony Blair’. It was difficult to escape but eventually I did.
Time to go find the other half…..
I knew I would find him in here and, sure enough, he was happily trying ‘samplers’ of the brews made on the premises…..
(those are all tiny brandy glasses, not half pints, whew)
A very interesting place, The Great Northern Brewery. Lots of things to photograph
– they do tours of the brewery at certain times of the day.
Lots of signs to tickle a drinking man’s fancy….
However, we were both hungry by now and needed to
This was such a lovely bar with a fantastic view
we decide to stay and eat there – and very happy we were too
I don’t normally drink in the daytime, but these were exceptional circumstances; problem was, choosing the beer – so the bar gave me two free samplers
I preferred the one on the right – Wild Huckleberry – fresh and citrusy
So we ordered a pint each and said cheers to Whitefish
It had been a very successful day shopping-wise too. We had found warm clothing on the way into town
Hotfingers gloves
Merino wool hiking socks
We found anti-fog stuff for the helmets, I got a new pair of waterproof overtrousers (mine blew off the bike somewhere in Arizona last year)
I found this wonderful gadget so I can make a cup of tea wherever there is a socket
and we had moved along in our plans somewhat… but that is still under wraps 😀
On the road again tomorrow. It is 598 miles to Seattle and we should do that in two halves. Once there, we need to try to make a couple of bookings to go forward.
