I HAD ARRIVED IN GRAND JUNCTION AND FOUND A MOTEL WITH HIGH RATINGS FOR CLEANLINESS SO BOOKED IN FOR THREE NIGHTS. IT WAS A BIT OF A SWIZZ AS THE FIRST NIGHT WAS $60+, THE 2ND, $70+ AND THE 3RD, $80 BECAUSE OF SOME COUNTRY FESTIVAL THAT WOULD BE HAPPENING. HOWEVER, THE ROOM WAS CLEAN AND THE WiFi HAD AN EXCELLENT SPEED AND WAS PASSWORD SECURED, WHICH MEANT I COULD CATCH UP WITH CHECKING MY BANK ACCOUNT. ACCOUNTING AND LAUNDRY DONE, IT WAS TIME FOR A BEER.
THE FOLLOWING DAY, THURSDAY 19TH JUNE, WAS BRILLIANT, THE BAD WEATHER, THAT HAD BEEN A MONKEY ON MY SHOULDER FOR DAYS, HAD GONE THROUGH
I WAS MEETING PATTI, A PHOTOGRAPHER FRIEND OF CHRISTINE’S, FOR LUNCH. SHE TURNED OUT TO ALSO BE A FEISTY COUNTRY FEMALE, WITH GUNS IN HER BOOTS. LUNCH WENT SO FAST AND THE CONVERSATION PROGRESSED SO RAPIDLY, THAT BY THE TIME PATTI LEFT. I GOT AROUND TO SAYING, ‘HEY THAT WAS GREAT’, BUT I TOTALLY FORGOT TO SAY, ‘THANK YOU, FOR LUNCH PATTI’
I HAD A WALK AROUND TOWN TAKING PHOTOS OF THE FANTASTIC STREET ART AND SCULPTURES

OH YES, AND NOTE THE NEW VISOR! I WALKED INTO A BIKE SHOP HERE AND, INCREDIBLY, THEY HAD A VISOR THAT FITTED MY HELMET. I WAS PRETTY IMPRESSED. AND NOW I CAN SEE BETTER 🙂
Of course, you would know it Jan arrives and I am busy with work, out of my mind! Lunch was so fun and it zipped by! Jan is personality Plus! Jan met my Cousins wife, Lori.. our waitress who has worked for Wrigley Field Pub for years…..for the size of our city, I joke that we are all related to each other, one way or another, when you are born and living in the same city for most of your life and come from a huge family, the family becomes inter related with the City. You have to be careful who you cuss at, because they are probably related to you!
Next year, hopefully, with a wee bit more notice, I will be able to treat Jan and Christine to Western Hospitality and a more personal tour of our area,( like swimming in the pot holes where only the locals go) and a little range shootin for a change of pace and excitement. Looking forward to seeing you both and becoming better friends in the future!

Hi Patti,
It was good of you to take time out of your busy job and Jan (and I) appreciated it.
Next year, for sure. We will meet up final – after, what? Six years, at least 🙂
The pot-holes sound like great fun! And Jan will love the shootin’
