Hard Times – Iowa to Wyoming

Would you believe it? I go out to empty the bin and miss Jan’s phone call. Message on the answerphone:

Pulled in to fill up. Heavens opened again , so bought a slice of pizza to pass a half hour in the hope that the rain will pass through. 18-wheeler missed me by millimetres in an earlier downpour. He overtook me and then forgot he was hauling a trailer. Getting sick of this weather

Jan is now in a motel in Cheyenne. It has been a rotten slog so far – lots of rain and he has really felt the cold. I am hoping that, from here on out west, the weather should improve. Below is the route Jan plans to take later today – probably split it in half as it is another 814 miles and, if the weather he has been having continues, I cannot see him making the whole ride 1 one shot.

He is in bed now, but managed to send me some photos beforehand.

He went for a coffee with a photographer friend of mine and got a photo of Lady, Kathy’s beautiful, ‘Rag Doll’ cat for me.

Finally, he was really ‘on the road’ again

Finally, late last night, Jan found a nice motel in Cheyenne, Wyoming (my second-favourite state)
