And so, the time to head south again arrived. We were booked on our usual mode of travel; the St George Shuttle; that dropped us off at McCarron airport and we had only a five minute wait for the hotel shuttle to pick us up; all very simple.
I was so looking forward to the change of motel; this time we were staying in a very new and modern Tru by Hilton; they have really updated this ‘budget’ side of the chain.
It was simple, compact, clean, fresh and heaven!

We checked into our room on the second floor offloaded our bags, grabbed the camera and then requested the hotel shuttle to take us to ‘The Strip.

We didn’t stay long – maybe two hours; the shuttle arrives at the Mandalay Bay Hotel at half past the even hours so we were back for the 1430 and it’s just five minutes back to the Hilton. We took a walk to the nearest place to eat which was about a mile away. Nobody walks anywhere in most of the USA so we got some odd looks.

Back at the hotel, we showered, packed as much as we could and then fell asleep in a lovely, fresh bed (the Bug Motel blanket was full of cigarette burns).
Tuesday 30th November
Breakfast was self-service buffet and I managed to put together a decent keto-suitable breakfast of scrambled egg, cheese, bacon bits chives and butter and hot sauce.
Excellent – and fortunate because I had ordered a diabetic diet meal on the British Airways flight to London but that was a long way from being suitable for a diabetic.
We had to be at McCarron airport three hours before our first flight which was only a 46 minute one to Los Angeles. We then had to make our way quickly to a completely different terminal for the onward flight and there were only 50 minutes between landing and the gate closing.
It was interesting to fly over the coast and see the Pacific Ocean. Then, once the plane had turned we flew back over Las Vegas (duh) and the mountains of Nevada, Utah and Arizona; impressive seen from the air.
Time to lie back and just try to doze for ten hours.
Arriving 8 hours ahead of the time we left. Blighty – always so green.
That’s about it for this year’s trip although I do have some photos from the camera to go through – when I have the impetus 🙂
Happy travels!!
